42.1 Volume 5 - Last Night The Dancers Saved My Life

• August 16th, 2009

Been a few weeks since my last podcast but the wait is over.  Instalment 5 is titled "Last Night The Dancers Saved My Life".  This was a set I recorded after Soul Sessions 4 in Eugene, Oregon at the Wow Hall.  I had never connected with the dance floor on the level I did at this party!  One of my top experiences behind the decks at a party.  So naturally I had to record the set and title it appropriatley!  Shoot me an email at blue42podcast@gmail.com and enjoy!

42.1 Volume 1 - Hard Drive Back Up

• June 26th, 2009

First in a series of my archived mixes.  This mix is the first I ever recorded and distributed.  This style of Florida Breakbeats is what made me fall in love with electronic music.  Artists like Icey, Sharaz, Huda Hudia and labels like Zone, Tree, Kalidescope, and 420-OH!  The title of the mix is "Hard Drive Back Up" and I hope you enjoy it!  Please check back for more mixes as I become more familiar with podcasting and the whole process.

Dj Blue 42 Bio

• June 26th, 2009

Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Blues love of music began with classic artists like Prince, Michael Jackson, and Thelonious Monk. He first explored his interest in musical performance--playing the trombone, baritone, and euphonium for his high school band. Moving to Lake Tahoe in 1992, Blue played guitar for various independent bands, including The Donner Party and Turd. While residing in Lake Tahoe, Blue began attending fire access road parties, clubs, and all night events in close by Sacramento and San Francisco. Following his exposure to the underground electronic music community in 1997, Blue realized he had found his niche and began DJ'ing professionally in 2000. With Blue's extensive musical background in funk, jazz and disco, Blue is able to blend different genres of music to suit any dancers appetite. At any given time his crate is overflowing with breaks, tech funk, dub-by techno, and all flavors of house. What began reflecting older club-hits, funk and R&B has since developed into booty shaking, hand clapping, Funky House. Blue blends deep dirty bass lines, with funky remixes of 80's tracks to create a sound that is both classic and fresh.  Blue's musical expertise is, of course, backed up by his technical expertise. Consistent, smooth, quality mixes, and clean transitions are signature to his style. His intuitive grasp of acoustics, the capabilities of sound-systems, and of mix-equipment allows him to tailor his performance to any venue while taking the greatest advantage of the tools at hand. As DJ Blue42, Richard gets rave reviews from audiences and club-goers, and has acquired considerable experience at a variety of venues throughout San Diego, Los Angeles, Temecula, Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, Oregon, and Mexico.  Despite his successes, Blue likes to stay connected to his roots, remembering what it means to be in the audience enjoying a great performance. This connection helps him create a set for the audience for whom he's performing, something unique and enjoyable for everyone!
